Safiya is a litigator at Ross Nasseri LLP. She is developing a broad civil litigation and regulatory practice.

Safiya has built a strong foundation in advocacy. She summered and articled at Ross Nasseri LLP, where she gained invaluable experience assisting with every aspect of litigation across a broad spectrum of practice areas, including complex corporate/commercial disputes, professional liability, investigations, and civil fraud.

While completing her J.D. at Western University, she served as Program Manager for the Sport Solution Clinic. In this role, she supported National, Olympic, and Paralympic athletes in safe sport, team selection, and funding disputes before the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. Safiya was also active in the Western Law community, chairing several student committees (Distinguished Speakers, Community Outreach, and Advocacy committees) and excelling in moot competitions, where she won awards for both her written and oral advocacy.

Prior to law school, Safiya earned an M.A. in International Human Rights from Columbia University and a B.A. in Peace and Justice Studies (International Relations) from Tufts University. Her professional experience includes preparing policy recommendations for the United Nations, working at the Parliament of Canada, and contributing to human rights initiatives with Physicians for Human Rights.

Safiya was called to the Ontario bar in 2025 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, The Advocates’ Society, and the Ontario Bar Association.

  • R. Kidd Fuels Corp. v. Frew Energy Ltd, 2026 ONSC 1758 – successfully set aside a noting in default when the client was faced with a $5 million judgment and obtained a costs award in a commercial dispute
  • Successfully defended a client in a high-stakes complaint proceeding under Hockey Canada’s Maltreatment Complaint Management Policy
  • Represented a client in responding to allegations of contravention of an Ontario Hockey Federation policy, permitting the client to complete the season
  • Acted for a client in three successive urgent, high-stakes injunction proceedings, achieving favourable outcomes
