Daniel Viola is a summer student at Ross Nasseri. He is currently completing a J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he has received academic awards and was selected as a Dean’s Fellow to mentor first-year students.
After his first year at Osgoode, Daniel built on his previous media background as a summer student at Innocence Canada, where he assessed trial transcripts and conducted in-depth research on wrongful convictions. He has helped produce leading legal scholarship as a senior editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal and represented the school at the Laskin Moot in administrative and constitutional law. He was also a clinic volunteer with Artists’ Legal Advice Services.
Prior to law school, Daniel was an acclaimed journalist. He was senior editor at The Walrus magazine and editor-in-chief of Maisonneuve, where he developed complex investigations and analysis, with a focus on politics, business, health, and the arts. The articles he has written and produced have won or been nominated for nearly 50 national awards.
