Areas of Practice

Tuviere Okome an incoming summer student at Ross Nasseri LLP. She is a candidate for the Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor (BCL/JD) at McGill University’s Faculty of Law.

Tuviere’s interest in litigation and oral advocacy was shaped by both her academic and practical experiences. She was a member of McGill’s Winkler Class Actions Moot team, where her team received multiple awards, including Best Defendant Factum. Alongside her moot experience, she developed strong legal research and writing skills through her work as a research assistant, contributing to a forthcoming Cambridge University Press handbook on the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

During law school, Tuviere gained experience across a range of legal settings. She served as a law clerk at the Court of Québec (Criminal Division), where she supported judges in legal research and drafting on criminal procedure and Charter issues. She also worked with Lawyers for Human Rights in Johannesburg, contributing to litigation and advocacy on environmental and constitutional rights, and completed an internship at the HIV Legal Network, where she conducted research on drug policy and human rights.

Tuviere was actively involved in the McGill law community. She served as Co-President of the Black Law Students’ Association, where she organized programming to support and mentor first-year students. She also contributed to access to justice initiatives through her work with the Legal Information Clinic at McGill and the Christie Bike Ride fundraiser.

Prior to law school, Tuviere completed a Master of Science in Epidemiology at McGill University, where she was awarded the Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from McGill, graduating with distinction.

In August 2026, Tuviere will clerk at the Constitutional Court of South Africa for Justice Theron, the country’s highest court, where she will support judicial decision-making on constitutional and human rights matters.
