Ross Nasseri LLP congratulates Eric Block on his appointment to the Class Proceedings Committee of the Law Foundation of Ontario.
Leonie is a litigator at Ross Nasseri LLP. She is establishing a broad civil and regulatory practice.
Leonie has developed a strong foundation in advocacy through her diverse litigation experiences, including with the Crown Attorney’s Office, Community Legal Services of Ottawa, and Borden Ladner Gervais LLP as a summer and articling student.
During her time at the Crown Attorney’s Office, Leonie gained invaluable courtroom experience prosecuting provincial offences.
During her time at BLG, Leonie represented clients in Small Claims Court proceedings and supported civil litigation matters across multiple practice areas, drafting pleadings and mediation briefs, and assisting with motions, mediations, hearings, and examinations.
Leonie further advanced immigration and refugee matters as a student caseworker at Community Legal Services of Ottawa.
Leonie earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Ottawa. While at law school, she held several leadership roles with the Ottawa Law Review, including Senior Editor and Special Projects Manager, where she led the research and authorship of Artificial Intelligence’s Impact on Legal Journals, a book published by the University of Ottawa Press. She also served as a Teaching Assistant for the 1L Criminal Law and Procedure course in her second and third year of law school.
Prior to law school, Leonie worked for the federal government for five years in various international affairs-related roles. She holds an M.A. in International Affairs from Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and a B.Sc. in Economics with First Class Honours from Dalhousie University, where she also earned a Certificate in Intercultural Communication. Leonie is fluent in Dutch and English.
